Sample management
Detailed tracking of physical samples and related quality / quantity indexes through the repository. Documentation of the sample's origin, how it got to the repository and how it was handled there.

Sample management handles the following tasks: Sample reception, Storage, Tracking, Request management.

Sample reception

SmartBank allows remote locations to initiate sample transfer and enter accompanying information into the system. SmartBank supports a range of labeling methods, including bar codes, RFID etc.

Information may be imported from a range of electronic files or entered manually.

Storage

SmartBank provides a thoroughly configurable storage system with customizable hierarchies. It supports organization-wide inventory control with advanced search functions to pinpoint sample locations quickly.

Tracking

Aliquots, derivatives and pooled samples are fully tracked within SmartBank, ensuring chain of custody when materials are moved or used. Transfers between groups are recorded with tracking numbers. Batches of samples can be grouped into containers and tracked as a single unit.

Request management

Researchers can search, compose, and request samples based on their specific needs. After registering the user request, SmartBank helps the researcher to review, approve, collect, test, and transport samples.
