Zoltan Kovacs

(Chief Executive Officer, Co-founder)

Mr. Kovacs graduated in 1999 as MSc in Economics and Business Administration at the University of Debrecen. In the same year he founded MediaTechnik Inc., a specialist for various embedded systems for interactive television and video surveillance technology. In 2002 Mr. Kovacs sold the company and joined Kovex-Computer, a computer hardware reseller as head of IBM sales. In 2004 Mr. Kovacs founded Astrid which was one of the first companies to commercialize the cryptographic research results created at the University of Debrecen. Mr. Kovacs is responsible for operations, finance and HR.

Dr. Zsolt Torok

(Chief Scientific Officer, Co-founder)

Dr. Torok graduated in 2001 as a Medical Doctor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Debrecen. He worked as a surgeon specialist at the Medical and Health Science Centre at the University of Debrecen, then at the Josa Andras County Hospital in Nyiregyhaza. Dr. Torok gained professional skills in the field of general and vascular surgery and vascular interventional radiology. He holds an MBA from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Debrecen. From 2006 Dr. Török is responsible for strategy and R&D.

Dr. Scot Wallace

(Head of Business Development)

Dr. Wallace graduated in 1998 with a PhD at the University of Vienna. After completing his post-doc with Novartis he worked as a scientist at Intercell AG in Vienna. Dr. Wallace moved to the USA where he completed his MBA and held senior business development positions at large companies like Ameren Energy, Sigma Aldrich. Dr. Wallace returned to Austria as the Head of Business Development at Sandoz in Kundl, Tirol. Dr. Wallace joined Astrid in 2011 as the head of business development. He is responsible for strategy, expansion and key accounting.

Edit Tukacs

(Chief Development Officer)

Ms. Tukacs graduated as MSc at the University of Debrecen as a teacher of biology and mathematics, then she gained her second MSc degree a year later as an applied mathematician in bioinformatics. After graduation Ms. Tukacs was teaching at Péchy Mihály Technical College. In early 2010 she joined Astrid as a scientist in bioinformatics. From 2011 Ms. Tukacs is responsible for all product development efforts in bioinformatics, biostatistical analysis and data mining.

Balint Domokos

(Chief Technology Officer)

Mr. Domokos graduated as MSc at the Technical University of Budapest, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics. From 1996 Mr. Domokos worked at Ericsson Telecommunications Hungary. In 2000 he joined MediaTechnik as a consultant and software developer. From 2002 Mr. Domokos worked for Powercom Interactive Media in Malaysia, Singapore and in Indonesia where he designed and developed server side components of SMS payment interfaces, customer support systems, SMS services and an SMS gateway application. Between 2007 and 2009 he worked in Dublin, Ireland for Misys International Banking Systems as a senior software engineer. In late 2009 he joined Astrid. Mr. Domokos is responsible for scientific and technological issues of bioinformatics products and services.

Ziggy Kovacs

(Chief Marketing Officer)

Mr. Kovacs graduated from the University of Economics in Budapest in 1995. He worked at two different large IT companies located in Budapest as a product manager for three years. Between 2000 and 2004 he worked at an IT distribution company in Sydney, Australia. During this period he also refined his marketing skills at a NSW TAFE course. After returning to Hungary in 2004 he joined Astrid at the very beginning of its operations. He is responsible for marketing and sales.
